How to Set the Microsoft Edge Start and Home Page with Intune

Open the same start page and home page in Microsoft Edge for everyone, on Windows devices managed by Microsoft Intune. You do it with one settings catalog policy. The steps follow the current Intune admin center and Microsoft Learn.

Before you start

• Windows 10 or 11 devices enrolled in Intune.
• An Intune role that can create configuration policies, like Policy and Profile Manager.
• The URLs you want to open, for example your intranet.

1. Create a settings catalog policy

1. Sign in to the Microsoft Intune admin center.
2. Go to Devices > Manage devices > Configuration > Create > New policy.
3. Set Platform to Windows 10 and later and Profile type to Settings catalog, then select Create.
4. Give the policy a name you’ll recognize later, like Microsoft Edge start and home page, and select Next.

2. Find the Microsoft Edge settings

1. Select Add settings and search for Startup, home page.
2. Select the category Microsoft Edge > Startup, home page and new tab page.

Two things to know in the settings picker:

• Microsoft Edge holds mandatory settings that users can’t change. Microsoft Edge – Default Settings (users can override) holds recommended settings: a starting value that users can change. This guide uses the mandatory ones.
• Settings that end in (User) apply to users when they sign in. Settings without it apply to the device, even when nobody is signed in. This guide uses the device settings.

3. Configure the settings

Setting	Value
Action to take on startup	Enabled, then Open a list of URLs
Sites to open when the browser starts	Enabled, then add your URLs
Configure the home page URL	Enabled, then add the URL the Home button opens
Set the new tab page as the home page	Disabled, so the Home button opens your URL
Show Home button on toolbar	Enabled

Select Next.

4. Assign and create

1. Scope tags: add them if you use them, then select Next.
2. Assignments: add the Microsoft Entra group with the users or devices that should get the pages. A policy without a group is saved but not deployed.
3. Review + create: check the summary and select Create.

5. Check that it worked

1. In the admin center, open the policy under Devices > Manage devices > Configuration and check Device assignment status and Per setting status.
2. On a test PC, open Microsoft Edge, go to edge://policy and select Reload policies. Your settings show up in the list with the status OK.
3. Not there yet? Sync the device from Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, select the work account, then Info > Sync.
